WOW the job that laid you off paid you $190K per year? That's amazing. I get paid $55K per year as an Accountant with 8 years of work experience in Accounting, a 4 year degree in Business, and a 2 year degree in IT. I guess I'm getting paid waaaaay below my range. How can I even save money on a $55K (gross income) per year? I have to manage a family.

Would you be able to make a video which is meant for those who aren't college graduates that want to attend a bootcamp and what their outlook would be after? I see a lot UA-cam videos of bootcamp graduates with previous college degrees that appear to make the transition into tech much easier. I know having the 4 year degree is optimal but it be nice to know what the prospects are for non college degreed individuals.

Learn the vanilla languages, not all the popular libraries that are wrapping themselves around vanilla code. jQuery was massive at one point. Now how often do people tell you to do something with jQuery. If you understand vanilla, you can understand what these libraries are doing.

I think if you have a CS degree you have a better chance getting a job with little experience because your foundation is solid based on learning and proving so whoever highers you knows your dedicated your foundation is solid you just need experience

I like to think of it as a shift in how we code. Instead of being the writer, director, and the producer, I now get to have a writer (AI) doing a lot of the work for me, while I can direct all the big picture moving parts.

You literally said that you dont need to know too much html and css and then you add in the same sentence terms like UI and Photoshop well i guess someone needs to make that, with basic html and css you won't be able to achieve its obvious that you need great knowledge on those technologies.

My job went away during the pandemic around June 2020 but they said that I could look for another job within the company of which there were many. They offered 1/2 year of severance and I could use my office for three months. I took the money and other benefits as it was too good to pass up. In general, it's best to lose your job in the first round as subsequent rounds aren't as generous. I started Social Security and Medicare this month. Things got a lot more chaotic after I left. I never did apply for unemployment as I considered myself retired when I left. Tech booms and busts are cyclical and I've been through many cycles of them over the past 40 years. So yes, sock it away in the good times to carry you through the bad times. If the bad times never come, then you are set for retirement. It sounds like you're doing quite well with the side-gig. Working one job somewhat comes from the concept of "The Company Man" from the 1950s..
